Welcome! This is our Guest Playing Information Page

As needs arise across our teams, we seek guest players from our playing pool to assist. Guest players are prioritized and assigned based on what the teams need. Priority goes to paid members, current rostered players and guest pass holders. Guest playing is a great way to try a team out too without the full commitment or low/no cost. All guest players must abide by our player charter.

What to know when Guest playing

Before you play

Before you play

Before you play

All guest players must abide by our player charter, which in short states be a good teammate, share playing time and don't cause harm. You will need shin guards and cleats (no metal spikes).

What to wear

Before you play

Before you play

Most of our teams are royal blue as primary and light gray as alternate. No numbers needed, but your shirt cannot be significantly lighter or darker than the colors noted above. If the team wears something different, that will be communicated to you. Games Nov-March are indoors usually, outside of those months it varies between indoor/outdoors.

These almost always are provided to you through an invite in the app. Historically we've done this through calendar invites. Sometimes this is more informally communicated if in a hurry.

See below for links to rules, however in short the leagues we play in typically do not permit slide tackling or dangerous play. We commonly play 7v7 which is subbing on the fly, no offsides and approx 50min game play.

Other FAQs by Guest Players

Team Colors & Equipment

Our teams always wear royal blue, and light gray/white is the back up unless otherwise noted when assigned to play. It is required that you bring both to each game. If the team wears a different color that will be noted in the guest playing outreach.  Most of our leagues do not require uniforms or numbers on the shirt, if it is a requirement you'll be informed. If you do not have these colors, you CANNOT guest play.

Shin guards, soccer socks and cleats are mandatory always. No metal spikes. 99% of our games are on state of the art turf, normal molded cleats are optimal and turf cleats are welcomed too, but flat shoes are not recommended. You may wear any color shorts and socks. Jewelry typically should be removed, or must always be covered.

Locations

Be sure you know where you're playing. Look up the site, and if you're unsure if it's correct, ask the team manager you're working with to confirm the address you found is correct. Do the extra work on your end to look up the site. Not sure where one is? Check out the this link. Typically you receive a calendar invite when subbing, in that is the address usually as well as whether the facility is indoor or outdoor.

Arrive 10+ minutes in advance of the time mentioned as the time mentioned is the kickoff time. Be sure you ask any questions 4hrs plus in advance, the assignor for subs may not also be playing.

Format and Rules

Be sure you know the format and the rules for the league you're subbing on.

7v7 Rules are Here for Coed and Mens Teams within CSC

11v11 Mens Rules are Here  within MPRB

11v11 Coed Rules are Here within MPRB

There is no slide tackling permitted in any of the coed or men's leagues.

We play rain or shine, hot or cold... any game cancellations will occur at the field as it is very rare. 99% of our games are on artificial turf and  the conditions tend to permit play.

Always beware of parking, and plan to arrive early. Do not bring valuables or store them.

Sharing Field Time

You are appreciated for attending, however you must share playing time, and you should not be starting the game unless the team is short players or you're asked to. You may be asked to play a position you may not normally desire to, and you must be accept that duty or please do not accept subbing opportunities. Failure to consider this will result in few opportunities. If you earn a yellow card you may excluded from some future opportunities and if you receive a red card you will never be eligible for guest playing again.

RSVPs

Typically a Spond or calendar invite needs to be issued to you in order to play. Please ask for one if you have not received one. If your ability to play changes, you must alert the team manager ASAP to ensure another person can take your spot. Not showing up to a game you committed to may result in the deletion of your Spond account from our club for up to 1 year.

What if I encounter issues?

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Ryan Adams if you have an issue whether on site or before/after. If you are sent to sub, our team cannot reject you from playing. If they do, and you're not comfortable asserting your right to play, please ask for that persons name and report the issue. You may be asked to show proof you've been sent to play, a message from the assignor or calendar invite is sufficient proof.

How much does this cost?

Most often there is no cost to guest play. A perk of being part of the club is to be able to pickup games during the week and test out other teams and network. However, all persons are expected to contribute to the ecosystem of club and team costs. So if you're not on a league roster with our club, you may be asked to provide some form of financial contribution to play after the first couple of times. There will not be a long term ability to play in our club without ever joining a team or paying something. The average cost of a game is $10/game for outdoor rec soccer, otherwise $15/game for indoor soccer or advanced 11v11 league play during the outdoor season.

Best way to know when subbing opportunities arise?

We utilize primarily Spond, but sometimes our Facebook group to notify interested persons of our needs for guest players. Please join our Club Hub called Spond to better connect about subbing opportunities.

The best way to learn of guest playing opportunities is by joining our app Spond. You'll need a code which can be found on this page of our site. We also post on our Facebook group too.
